Bacton Tower, in the heart of Camden, is situated just around the corner from Gospel Oak tube station. The 22 storey block underwent a refurbishment, with new external wall insulation, windows and an overhaul of the private balconies.

New powder coated aluminium windows have been combined with a new external render finish, to form a clean, modern facade, upgrading the U-Value of the existing concrete structure to current building regulations.

The existing concrete structure was badly in need of repair. Wood paneling was removed and concrete repair carried out prior to the new EWI system being installed.

Existing painted coatings were removed by vacuum grinders in order to create a sound surface upon which to apply the new render finish.

New capping and pigeon netting was installed .

New Vulkem resin flooring was installed.

In order to increase the durability of the system, four fixings per m2 were specified to be fixed through the mesh.

New powder coated cable ducts hide all the heavy duty cables that run down the building.
